Döner kebab

Having lived in Germany for almost 4 years, döner kebabs became a standard part of my diet! In the U.K. they have connotations of drunk nights out and the munchies but in Germany, they are so tasty and full of veggies! Unfortunately it’s no longer really an option for me so we made our own!! This recipe serves 4.

Time

30 minutes

Ingredients

400g mince (or lamb mince if you can get it)

4 large gluten free pittas (or 8 smaller ones)

2 tsps paprika

2 tsps smoked paprika

2 tsps turmeric

1 tsp coriander seeds (crushed)

1 tsp cumin

1 tsp each of salt and pepper

And a variety of garnishes- you can use pretty much whatever you like! We went for carrots, cabbage, cucumber, peppers, tomato, feta and yoghurt!

Method

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C.

Add the mince and all spices, salt and pepper to a large bowl and mix thoroughly with your hands until the mix starts to go smooth.

Press into a loaf tin and pop in the oven for 20 minutes.

Cut the cooked meat into thin slices and start building up your kebab! Add yoghurt, hot sauce, whatever you like and enjoy!
