The Bowhouse Food Weekend – Fife, Scotland

We spent this weekend with my family on the east coast of Scotland and when I heard there was a food market happening just along the road, being the food lover that I am, I couldn’t wait to have a nosey!

The market was much bigger than I was expecting but was well laid out and not too crowded, even though there were loads of great stalls. The market was split between two buildings, one with stalls and one with food trucks, drinks and live music. We went round on Saturday to have a wander round the stalls and grab a few goodies.

One of my favourite stalls was Allan’s Chilli Products. They make a huge number of chilli jelly and sauces and they even had some gluten free tortilla chips out so I could try the dips too! We ended up getting a few different ones and I went for the Apple and Mint jelly- SO good I could eat it with a spoon!!!

The apple and mint jam will go perfectly with my next purchase- the nicest and creamiest cheese I’ve ever tried! The Damn Fine Cheese Company had a load of different cheeses, all of which were delicious! We bought 6 different wheels of cheese between us and polished one off that night!!

I’m a huge fan of candles and smelly stuff so I picked myself up a wax melt burner and some soy melts from the lovely Yves Moon to add to my collection- raspberry and black pepper, amazing!

I’ve had my eye on shampoo bars for a while but I like to smell them before I buy. I spotted this oriental plum one by The Soap Farm and it smells so good! Can’t wait to try it!

We went back again on Sunday to have a spot of lunch at the food trucks and see if we missed anything on the Saturday. A couple of the stalls had changed so that meant some more to look at!

There were a few different food stalls and after scoping them out, I decided that my best bet would be Umi’s Kitchen- a Vietnamese stall. I went for the Vietnamese Bun Cha (pork meatballs with slaw and noodles) and it was incredible! Will definitely be keeping my eye out for these guys as I can’t stop thinking about those meatballs!

I thought I was out of luck on the dessert front until my husband came running through the building to let me know that Tastes Like Crepe would make up a gluten free batter for me! And it did not disappoint! I chose lemon and sugar cause that’s my absolute favourite and it was so tasty! Big thanks to these guys for sorting me out! 🙂

The food market will be also be on:

Sept 8-9
Dec 8-9

and you can check out the venue and a list of traders here: http://www.balcaskie.co.uk/bowhouse-food-weekend/

I won’t make it to the next couple of food market weekends but I’m already looking forward to going back next year!

Let me know if you’ve been and what nice things you picked up! 🙂
